A Fun Volunteer Project - Here is How It Works:
We are always looking for local volunteers in 3 categories:
- Distribution Coordinator – follows up with hospitals and facilities to encourage them to sign up to receive cards.
- Web Promotion
- School and Community Coordinators – follows up to encourage schools, clubs, scouts, faith-based groups to sign up to draw Valentines.
The students are happy because they shared some love. The teachers are happy because they taught a valuable lesson. The people who get the cards are VERY happy. Everyone is happy!
Who should sign up as a volunteer?
If you fit into one of these categories, you are perfect!
- An organized, responsible person with some time on your hands to do something good for people.
- A retired (or not!) school teacher or professional, who has a knack for encouraging participation and following up.
- A student who is involved in school government, club, or society looking for a meaningful activity for the group.
- A current or aspiring politician, activist, journeyman, philanthropist, servicemember, outsider, pet-lover, or truant.
Any particular skills required?
You will be working on the computer. Emails, follow-up, and research (looking for information in Google like names of schools, trying to find contacts within the schools, finding PTA’s, etc.).
You’ll be entering the information onto an Excel or Google Sheet, which is easy.
You will be tracking to follow up with schools, making sure the envelopes get delivered to the schools and then re-sent back to you for distribution to the hospitals.
It would be great if you were outgoing and could get some local press. We have found that that helps get the word out to schools and hospitals to make sign-up easier.
Three Special Volunteer Positions To Fill:
We are looking for capable, special volunteers for 3 slots:
- Webmaster – to keep our website fresh, post on Instagram, Snapchat, (and maybe Facebook), and configure emails. Must know WordPress, SendGrid, and HTML (this will look GREAT on your resume!)
- National Volunteer Coordinator
- National Faith and Youth Group Coordinator (to reach out to Scouts, churches, etc. to encourage them to draw cards).
One of these may be you!
